Dallas, TX – September 2025 – Target Evolution Inc., a nonprofit that empowers teens through entrepreneurship, is seeking urgent community support after its new culinary program, Teen Biz Kitchen, was disrupted due to deception by a Dallas-area restaurant owner. The program, designed to give youth ages 10–19 hands-on culinary training while learning to launch food-based businesses, had begun successfully at Microsoft Campus in Irving, TX.
The transition from Microsoft to the restaurant was based on assurances from the owner regarding financial stability and kitchen equipment. Weeks after a successful soft launch, the owner removed all essential kitchen equipment without notice or communication. Target Evolution later discovered months of unpaid rent and utility bills hidden during negotiations. Despite documentation, the delayed legal agreement leaves Target Evolution with no current legal recourse.
“We sincerely appreciate and are grateful for the love and support Microsoft showed us during our camp,” said Crystal Victoria, Founder and Executive Director of Target Evolution. “We are deeply remorseful that such a successful opportunity was disrupted due to this deceit. We moved these kids from an amazing space at Microsoft in good faith, believing we were giving them a new opportunity—only to find out we’d been misled. To have the kitchen equipment removed without warning, leaving kids caught in the middle of unpaid bills, was devastating. This directly impacted children who were excited and fully engaged in learning.”
“This is about more than a kitchen—it’s about our kids,” Victoria added. “Today’s youth face extraordinary pressures. They need experiences that teach resilience, grit, and leadership. That’s what Teen Biz programs provide—and still will.”
The Teen Biz Kitchen pilot enrolled five students with plans for a year-round track. Its sudden collapse left both students and families without a vital educational opportunity.
Target Evolution is raising $15,000 to relocate Teen Biz Kitchen to a secure facility—whether a ghost kitchen, community church, or commercial space—so students can continue learning, creating, and building the skills they need to thrive. The organization asks the community to donate, volunteer, offer space or equipment, or share the campaign using #TeenBizKitchenRebuild.
“We’re not asking for pity—we’re asking for partnership,” Victoria said. “Our kids deserve better. They deserve a second chance, and we’re committed to giving it to them.”
